Fit Tip: Drink!

Monday Morning Fit Tip:

The possibility of becoming dehydrated rises with the temperatures, so staying hydrated will be extra important in the upcoming months!  Dehydration occurs when your body loses more fluid than it gains.  Some symptoms of dehydration include, but are not limited to:

  • Dizziness
  • Excessive Thirst
  • Confusion
  • Headaches
  • Loss of energy
Being dehydrated can also make you feel hungry when you’re really just thirsty – which can lead to over-eating and weight gain.  Beat the heat with these simple & easy ways to avoid dehydration:
  • Sip water throughout the day so that you don’t allow yourself to get thirsty (a sign of dehydration).
  • Try adding some of the moisture-rich foods above into your diet, or use them to flavor your water!
  • Drink water before, during and after exercise.
  • If you’re exercising for more than 60 minutes, you may also need to replenish your electrolytes.  Sports drinks or bananas are great for this!
