Think: “Pilates won’t just give me better abs; it will also make me a better person.”
Why: One of the biggest reasons females have trouble sticking to an exercise routine is that they feel guilty making time for it. However, before we can take care of others, we need to take care of ourselves. And when we do that, we’ll not only be less likely to throw our back out while, say, picking up shoes from the middle of the living room floor, but also less likely to snap at the person who left them there. *Find a class here!
Think: “I’m going to join that group, even though I’ll probably quit later.”
Why: Not even the most die-hard exercisers enjoy getting up early to workout each day, so they call their buddies! Studies have shown that the encouragement can keep us exercising over the long term. What’s more, the effect tends to last longer than the group does -people in studies still kept up their exercise routines long after the training group or class had disbanded.
Think: “Ten minutes is long enough.”
Why: Sometimes it’s impossible to find a free hour to work out. Exercising sporadically throughout the day is not only convenient, it can also help with weight loss and improve circulation! The point is to do something instead of nothing; and once you get started, maybe you’ll end up working out even longer!
